Tooth Extractions

In the event of decay, damage, or orthodontic treatment, a tooth may need to be extracted. No matter the problem, you can count on Hermes London Dental Clinic for pain-free tooth extraction by leading surgeons.

Oral surgery overview

A tooth extraction is decided by a dentist and is needed for a number of reasons, including;

  • Extensive tooth decay
  • broken teeth
  • impacted wisdom teeth
  • gum disease
  • an overcrowded mouth

Oral surgery necessitates further expertise in techniques so as to undertake surgeries with care, allowing patients to regain use of their teeth and mouths. Never try to pull your own teeth since this will lead to more serious problems. Dentists have the necessary equipment and a sterilized facility to perform this treatment with the utmost care.

Oral surgery overview

At Hermes Dental Clinic, we have an onsite oral surgeon with a special interest in complex extractions. The dental surgeons will take a detailed medical history and may arrange tests and investigations, including an X-ray. Following your consultation, you will arrange your tooth extraction together, answer any questions, and address any concerns you have.

Before the surgery and depending on your particular case and the severity of your problem, you will be given anaesthetic and offered sedation. Through the use of specially designed instruments, your surgeon will carefully loosen your tooth. Pushing and pulling may feel uncomfortable, but it shouldn’t be painful.

Following the removal of the tooth, a dressing pack may be placed into the space to prevent bleeding.  You may have some swelling after the procedure and discomfort, but it can be eased with over-the-counter painkillers.

When it comes to returning to work, you will receive personal guidance from your dentist. Those who work at a desk may be able to return to work in 1-2 days, whereas those who perform heavy manual labour may need to be off for a week.
