Put The Confidence Back In Your Smile With Your London Dental Clinic

Our teeth play an important role in our day-to-day lives. They help us chew food and speak clearly. Teeth also give us a great level of confidence, so it’s important we take care of them and visit our London Dental Clinic frequently for regular checkups.

Dentists aren’t just for regular checkups, but they help put the confidence back into your smile and can help us feel better about ourselves. Whilst it’s a common fact that 30% of people notice the teeth before anything else, it’s recommended having your smile in tip-top shape.

With National Dentist Day coming up on the 6th March, there’s no better time than now to take a look at the importance of having a fresh, healthy and clean smile.

Healthy gums

Your gums are often compared to cushions, as they surround your teeth and help to support them. In order to maintain healthy gums, you should know the signs of gum disease, gingivitis and periodontitis.

Common signs include red, swollen gums that bleed with ease when you brush them. When some diseases develop, they could potentially affect the area surrounding the tooth and increase the risks of losing your tooth.

As a London dentist, we recommend keeping your gums in tip-top shape by coming to our dental clinic for regular dental check-ups and hygiene appointments.

Straight teeth

Whilst many of us aren’t aware of this, straight teeth are much easier to keep clean and to keep the gums healthy. Experts say that those with a straight smile are more likely to be happy, successful and sociable. Orthodontic aligners are the ideal way of straightening your teeth to help you achieve a confident and happy smile.

Not only do we provide expert dentists in London, but we’re also the leading private orthodontist service in London. We aim to be the best, which is why we use the latest technology and state-of-the-art tools to offer a high-quality service for your orthodontic treatment journey.

Orthodontics prevents and corrects irregularities in the teeth that can cause further functional and aesthetical problems in time. To give our patients a range of choices, we offer an impressive range of orthodontic treatments to align and straighten the teeth. From Invisalign retainers, lingual braces and ceramic braces, to Damon braces, Six Month Smiles and invisible braces.

Over the years, we have seen an increase in patients using at-home aligners, with some patients requiring an emergency dentist visit. At-home aligners are more affordable and may initially appear a more attractive alternative for patients looking to achieve a straight smile on a budget, but are the home treatments really what they seem?

Fresh breath

For many people, bad breath is a  common problem, with over 80% of people experiencing long-term halitosis. Whilst bad breath can sometimes be caused by underlying medical issues, including diabetes, throat infections, sinusitis, bronchitis or diabetes, often, bad breath is caused by a lack of dental hygiene.

If you’re suffering from bad breath, or scientifically known as halitosis, we recommend cutting down on sugary foods, sugary drinks and cigarettes. Regular trips to a dental hygienist will also ensure your plaque levels are kept under control.

White teeth

With our teeth being easily stained by everyday foods, drinks, some medication and smoking, it can be difficult to keep our teeth pearly white. If you have stained teeth, it’s likely to make you self-conscious about talking and smiling.

With so many beauty salons offering teeth whitening nowadays to the general public, it can sometimes be misconstrued that teeth whitening can damage your teeth. Teeth whitening is proven to be a safe procedure when carried out by professional dentists and orthodontists. At Hermes London Dental Clinic, we offer two main teeth-whitening services to put the confidence back in your smile.

Power Whitening is a professional teeth-whitening service where your teeth are whitened in our private dental clinic. During this process, a whitening lamp is positioned over the teeth to activate the bleaching process. Results begin to show in as little as one hour, which is why Power Whitening is the favoured option for most of our patients looking to whiten their teeth.

We also offer a Home Whitening service whereby our professional team of orthodontists create a custom-made whitening mouth tray, which is usually placed in your mouth overnight with a whitening gel surrounding the mouth tray. Results do take longer to show than Power Whitening, which is usually around two weeks time.
